Calculated Strides

I put one foot in front of the other

is this a trudge

or the beginning of a journey?

Take the uneven slate sidewalk

past the victorians

Large lush yards beautiful colorful birds

Take me to or take me away

I am moving closer to the

steep pebbly road

Closer to the grey nondescript door

Smaller than the width of a child gate

down the stairs to my bell and door.

I’m home I’m home I’m home

….where are you?

Knives Alone

When you see love

What will you think?

Will you wonder

Why or…

Will you stumble

at the sight

Your heart drumming

an unsteady rhythm?

When you reach

your hands trembling

Not trusting even that

which you can touch.

What visions cloud

your eyes still seeing

yet unbelieving that

it is reality?

Pressing hand to cheek

caressing the unseen

sting of overwhelming

emotion that binds souls.

Throat dry rasping after

swallowing a thousand knives

please may the agony stay

reminder of first glance.

Sweet and bitter

sharp yet beautiful

the holy grail of love

the knife and the sting.

“That was how you knew love. My mother had told me that.  All you  had to do was imagine your life without the other person, and if the thought alone makes you shiver, then you knew.” (pg 74) “I remember what my mother had told me about the first time she saw my father.  How when  he turned around to look at her, she felt like she’d been slapped.  How she tried to stop the way she felt about him; how she pretended she didn’t care until she made herself sick to her stomach.  Once she had seen him, it was as though she had swallowed a thousand knives.  She tried not to feel it, but every time she saw him , there was that knife.” (pg 95) inspired by Incantations by Alice Hoffman

All other words fail
In the gravity of situation
Lied to
Stupidity is only excuse
How to explain the gripping hold
Lied to
Believe, fall and stumble for
Fancy turns of phrase and fakery
Lied to
Finished with
Not worth the effort or time
Wasted on worthlessness

Knowledge Is A Troublesome Rite of Passage

Keening for bygone times
I linger softly hushly dreaming
Answer me questions long forgotten unasked
To forgive a hundred thousand and a thousand more
Ribbons bind memories otherwise consigned to air or cloud
Passage of time cures, heals, loosens, and softens into grace

Spark Light

Tangled sweetly scented
Honey drips like dew
Tasting drops of love
Breathless always true

Gentle cadence of becoming
all and over in around
blurring to one surrounding one
home at long last found

Spark light!
love creating soul

Softly growing essence
Wisps of us all together
Forming perfection
Expression of love forever

Surprising movements
Inspiring deep affection
Awed to watch over all
Kindles deep abiding emotion

Spark light!
soul begetting soul

Small tiny bee kissed lips
Clean soft sweetly smells
Serene sighs expelling breath
Adoration tenderly swells

Nose to forehead lips to brow
Inhaling love gently pressed
Offering taking unconditionally
In brilliance eternally blessed

Spark light!
Souls transform love
